'Avengers: Infinity War'

Marvel fans came out in droves to see Avengers: Infinity War, propelling it to the largest opening weekend in the U.S. With a gross of $630 million, the Russo Brothers-directed film is part one of the culmination of the 19 films since 2008 in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and combines more than 20 of Marvel’s most beloved heroes in to one very long movie.

The threequel to 2012’s The Avengers and 2015’s Age of Ultron reunites the group (including other familiar faces from the likes of Guardians of the Galaxy and Black Panther) as they gear up for battle against their scariest and most purple Big Bad yet—Thanos. And Thanos is on a mission, too—to collect all six infinity stones—and pretty much destroy humanity if he accomplishes his mission.

It’s the MCU’s biggest film yet (which is really saying something), stuffed with superhero favorites, and fans have been waiting since 2015 to see how Infinity War stacks up against all their other MCU faves. But the one thing that has long had fans shook are the rumors that their most beloved heroes could bite the dust at the very large fist of Thanos. With the contracts of the actors playing the OG Avengers nearing their end and Marvel moving onto Phase 4 of its universe, Infinity War seemed to guarantee some shake ups in the MCU hierarchy.

Going by the reaction online, Infinity War didn’t disappoint. Critics and fans alike gave the film high praise overall, but the events therein really shook Twitter to its sad, emo core. Judging from the reactions to the “cliffhanger” ending, Marvel stans won’t be over this until 2019, when the next Avengers film opens. Here are the 15 best tweets about Infinity War.

Welp! Turns out Andy Dwyer might have screwed up something in Infinity War. Maybe he’ll redeem himself in the next Avengers film in 2019!

In 2008’s Iron Man, the first Marvel movie released, Terrence Howard originally played Rhodey, but was replaced with Don Cheadle for Iron Man 2. This is truly the look of a man who doesn’t worry about his old squad anymore.

Marvel fans were left VERY in their feels after one scene in particular. This reaction seems to be the general consensus.

The biggest question people had going into Infinity War—who dies? According to angel Whitney Houston, literally everyone.

While Tessa Thompson is just joking about Valkyrie not being in Infinity War, her love of goats remains the purest thing on the internet in 2018.

All T’Challa’s eyes say are, “Did we have to bring Wakanda into this, Cap?” And right after he had to deal with Killmonger in Black Panther, too!

We never would have never guessed that the musical stylings of Lil Jon and his classic song “Snap Yo Fingers” could provide ample context to Infinity War. But it’s 2018, so anything can happen.

We should greet people coming out of Infinity War screenings by wrapping them in those foil blankets they drape around people after a marathon.

This suggestion to drape moviegoers in foil blankets after they watch Infinity War is a pretty decent idea, considering the emotional toll it’s taken on fans all week.

While this is a dead ringer for Thanos’ Infinity Gauntlet, the jury’s out on whether or not Michael Jackson healed the world.

Marvel fans are not happy about some of the events in Infinity War, to the point that they’re just tweeting angry gifs at Marvel accounts. Which, fair.

This tweet describing the four stages of watching Infinity War seems to be the general reaction on the internet. Another important question: Has Shia LaBeouf ever watched an Avengers movie?

Using The Hulk himself to get their point across, this Marvel fan seemed to be pretty pissed about Infinity War once they left the theater.

While fans have been emotionally scarred by the events of Infinity War, it’s not going to stop them from seeing Avengers 4—and the countdown to 2019 begins.
