Director: Nacho Vigalondo

Every so often, a foreign genre work of genius comes along, gets largely ignored by those not connected with the film festival circuit, dies a slow, unnoticed death on home video, and leaves its supporters working overtime to spread the word.

Four years ago, Nacho Vigalondo's brain-scrambling stunner Timecrimes was such a movie, and, frankly, we still can't believe that people haven't caught on to its greatness yet. Hopefully, this will help. Writer-director Vigalondo's meticulously laid out film flips time-travel conventions to display the worst day ever, lived out by a guy who dabbles with the wrong machine, gets voyeuristic around the wrong naked woman, and is forced to painfully regret his moves over and over again. Tack on dozens more "over's" here and you'll get the point.
