Halina Reijn’s Bodies Bodies Bodies, which was met with glowing reviews following its SXSW premiere in March, got the trailer treatment on Tuesday.

The upcoming A24 film, featuring a screenplay by Sarah DeLappe and based on a story by Kristen Roupenian, focuses on a group of well-to-do friends who gather at a remote mansion for a party. As the newly released trailer makes clear, however, the proceedings quickly take a decidedly grim turn.

Bakalova, whose breakout role arrived in 2020 with Sacha Baron Cohen’s Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, spoke with Collider back in March about her attraction to the story of Bodies Bodies Bodies. For the 2021 Critics’ Choice Awards winner, the film’s “unique” take on horror is part of what has her excited about its now-imminent release, although she was initially “scared” about her foray into the genre.

“I was scared to be a part of a horror movie because I’m scared of horror, but A24 horror movies are something different,” Bakalova said at the time. “Plus, I think at the end, Bodies Bodies Bodies feels more like an R-rated comedy because everybody brought their funniness in a way. The whole cast was incredible. These are all people I’m dying to work with over and over and over again.”
