Dustin Diamond: 'How Can You Have 'Saved by the Bell' Without Screech?'

In January, NBC announced that a 'Saved by the Bell' reboot would be hitting its Peacock streaming service.

Dustin Diamond is hoping that his former Saved by the Bell co-stars let it be known how his role as Screech is necessary for a successful reboot of the show.

During a conversation with TMZ, Diamond claims that he was one of the only characters to appear in every episode of the original Saved by the Bell. As a result, he thinks the fans will feel like the reboot is incomplete if he's not included.

"How can you have Saved by the Bell without Screech?" Diamond said. "It seems like there's a missed opportunity there."

In January, NBC announced that a Saved by the Bell reboot would be hitting its Peacock streaming service. The show will include original cast members, Mario Lopez (A.C. Slater), Elizabeth Berkley (Jessie Spano), and Mark-Paul Gosselaar (Zack Morris). Per People, this series will follow their lives and careers as adults. Morris has been elected the Governor of California while the other storylines have not been disclosed.

As for Diamond, he's been making headlines for all the wrong reasons. He's been arrested on several occasions including a 2014 incident where he stabbed a man during a bar fight. He also wrote a tell-all book in 2009 titled Behind the Bell. The book chronicled his time as a cast member on the show and made accusations about his other co-stars' behavior. While this behavior might have alienated him from the cast, Diamond still thinks that they should make a case for him to be a part of the reboot.

"Everyone should be thinking we all should be a part of this," Diamond continued.

He also went on to say that his storyline would involve Screech dealing with a child that was similar to the character he played in the original show.
