It looks like Birds of Prey has sort of received a title change.

The R-rated movie, which was originally titled Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), has been shortened to Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey. The websites for Cinemark, AMC, and Regal have all been changed to show the new title. Fandango still lists the movie as Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn). One reason for the title switch might have to do with Warner Bros. wanting viewers to see that the movie centers around Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn character. Alisha Grauso of Atom Tickets took to Twitter to point out that the switch in title isn't technically official but was rather done "for display/search purposes only for vendors and theaters."

Update on the #BirdsofPrey title change: It's apparently for display/search purposes only for vendors and theaters, not an official title change. Just to clarify for those of you writing about it. 🤷🏻‍♀️
1. The title will be the original everywhere else and on record 2. Theaters now can display the new title if it helps with search (or the studio directly requests it) 3. Not this exact scenario for a tentpole (that I can think of but I could absolutely be wrong)
AMC, Cinemark, and Regal have all updated their sites to reflect the new title:

The move comes on the heels of the DC film having a disappointing opening weekend which saw it get $33.2 million at the domestic box office. The movie was previously projected to pull in $50-$55 million in that time frame. On the international side of things, the film was projected to make $110 million overseas but got just $81.2 million. The film reportedly had a budget of around $85 million.

Despite not making as much money as they wanted at the box office during opening weekend, the film has received solid reviews and currently holds a score of 80% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Best emancipation ever. See why #BirdsOfPrey is a massive crowd pleaser - NOW PLAYING in theaters everywhere! https://t.co/aHlmpya5Bd.
