JAY-Z to Produce New Netflix Movie 'The Harder They Fall'

JAY-Z has inked a deal with Netflix to produce the film that stars Jonathan Majors.

JAY-Z continues to expand his empire. 

According to Collider, the Jigga Man has inked a deal with Netflix to produce an original film titled The Harder They Fall. This movie will star actor Jonathan Majors who is best known for his roles in White Boy Rick and The Last Black Man in San Francisco. As displayed through the evolution of his Roc La Familia, Hov likes to keep things in the family. As a result, The Harder They Fall is written and directed by Jeymes Samuel. Samuel worked closely with JAY-Z on past projects including The Great Gatsby soundtrack and The Harder They Fall will be his directorial debutHe will assist Hov on the film's production alongside Power producers James Lassiter and Lawrence Bender.

The Harder They Fall will follow the life of an outlaw named Nat Love who is played by Majors. When Love discovers the man that killed his parents is scheduled to be released from prison, he embarks on a journey to enact his revenge. This leads him to seek the help of his former gang members.

The Harder They Fall was first introduced to companies in 2016. This version of the film featured Michael K. Williams, Erykah Badu, Rosario Dawson, Wesley Snipes, Jessie Williams, and more. Now that Netflix has control of the project, it is unclear if the new production team will tap these entertainers to reprise any characters.

In addition to The Harder They Fall, Majors also stars in Spike Lee's Da 5 Bloods which will also be released as a Netflix original.
