Baz Luhrmann has started pre-production work on a Elvis Presley biopic, and last week rumors started to circulate as to who might portray the late rock 'n' roll star. Actors who have reportedly already tested for the part include Harry Styles, Ansel Elgort, Miles Teller, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Austin Butler. But TMZ reports G-Eazy has enthusiastically thrown himself into the mix, too.

A noted fan of the king of rock, G-Eazy has supposedly been talking with Warner Bros. about his interest in playing Elvis, and it's gotten far enough that he's also spoken with Luhrmann. Sources close to the production say G-Eazy and Luhrmann spent some time together in New York City in June, during which the rapper made it clear he was eager to jump into the role.

Of course, he's up against some stiff competition, especially when it comes to the impressive hair of Harry Styles. G-Eazy doesn't have a ton of experience as an actor, but he could leverage this opportunity to launch his movie career if he's successful in bagging the role. Whoever does play Elvis will be acting alongside Tom Hanks, who has already been cast in the role of manager Tom Parker.

A production date for the untitled biopic has yet to be announced, although it's expected that the project will focus on the earlier years of Elvis Presley's career.
