PROMO: Say Your Prayers—‘The Nun’ is Coming

Warner Bros. 'The Nun' drops Friday, September 7, and it's every bit as terrifying and dark as you think it'd be

The Conjuring universe is about to get a whole lot darker. James Wan, the director of the box office slam dunks The Conjuring and The Conjuring 2, serves as screenwriter/producer for the latest terrifying chapter. Directed by Corin Hardy, The Nun tells the story of a young nun at a cloistered Romanian convent who ends her own life, which results in the Vatican sending holy investigators to learn why. Together, a priest with an unhallowed past and a frail novitiate set out, accidentally unearthing the order’s corrupt secret.

Scared yet? You should be. Prepare for another visit from the same malevolent nun who first entered the nightmares of audiences everywhere in The Conjuring 2. Oscar-nominated Demián Bichir (A Better Life) takes on the ominous role of Father Burke, joining American Horror Story star Taissa Farmiga as Sister Irene, as the two navigate the abbey as it morphs into a chilling battleground between the living and those bound to Hell. Jonas Bloquet (Elle) appears in the film as local villager Frenchie; Game of Thrones’ Charlotte Hope as Sister Victoria; Ingrid Bisu (Toni Erdmann) plays Sister Oana; and Bonnie Aarons returns to her horrifying The Conjuring 2 role as the titular nun. Gary Dauberman also collaborated with horror maestro Wan on the bloodcurdling screenplay.

The Nun opens in theaters Friday, September 7, and will be distributed by Warner Bros.
