It appears that a certain celebrity baby couldn’t wait to make his way into the spotlight. Seth Meyers' new son made quite the entrance into the world on Sunday. Axel Strahl, Meyers' second son, forwent the hospital and choose instead to make his natal debut in the lobby of the family’s New York City apartment on April 8th.

On Monday, the Late Night with Seth Meyers host recounted the incredible story to his audience. Meyers explained, “I called 911 and over the course of a minute conversation, I said, ‘We’re about to have a baby—we’re having a baby—we had a baby.” The 44-year-old SNL alum thanked the New York Police Department, which sent help to the scene moments after the baby was born. Before they arrived, neighbors had come to the rescue and kept the baby warm with towels fresh from the dryer. Meyers got especially emotional when he talked about his wife and what a trooper she was. As he held back tears, Meyers joked, “I’m getting choked up thinking about how brave I was.”

Meyers shared a photo of the entire fire department, which he called “New York’s finest,” tending to his wife in the lobby of their apartment building. The host also shared a photo of his adorable newborn, explaining his son’s middle name, Strahl, is his mother-in-laws maiden name. He and his wife gave it to their son in honor of his wife’s maternal grandparents, who were Holocaust survivors that met in an Austrian hospital the day after they were freed.
