Stranger Things actor and Calvin Klein model Millie Bobby Brown made a different kind of fashion statement at the 2018 Kids’ Choice Awards by honoring the 17 people slain during the February shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High in Parkland, Florida.
Brown spent the majority of her acceptance speech expressing gratitude for the support Stranger Things has received and noting the impact the Parkland survivors have made. You can read a transcript of Brown’s entire speech below.
“The March For Our Lives demonstrations that took place all over the world today have inspired me and impacted us all in one way. I’m fortunate to be here tonight to receive an award as an actor. I’m so very grateful and I appreciate the love and support of my fans and the opportunity that our show, Stranger Things, has created for me. But more than anything, I get to be up here, and I’m privileged to have a voice that can be heard, one that I can use to hopefully make a positive difference and help influence change.

As Brown fought back tears and raised her Favorite TV Actress award for her portrayal of “Eleven” in Stranger Things, she turned her back to the audience, revealing the phrase “March For Our Lives” and the names of each Marjory Stoneman Douglas High victim on the rear of the shirt.
While other celebs such as Demi Lovato and Vic Mensa were among the estimated 800,000 to physically descend upon Washington, D.C. and eclipse President Trump’s struggle of an inaugural crowd, Brown made it pretty clear she was with the #MarchForOurLives movement in spirit.
