Yardie debuted at Sundance and is screening this week in Berlin, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The film is an adaptation of the 1992 novel of the same name written by Jamaican-born British author Victor Headley. The movie and the book follows a young Jamaican man named D, played by Aml Ameen, and his life of crime and quest for revenge after the murder of his older brother. The film is shot in both London and Jamaica, with scenes that track gang wars from Kingston to the gritty streets of London in the 1980s.

No release date has been attached to the gangster drama yet, so there’s no word on when Yardie will be hitting a theater near you.

In other Idris Elba news, the actor recently got engaged to the beauty queen Sabrina Dhowre, crushing the hearts of women everywhere. He actually popped the question at a screening for Yardie at Rio Cinema in Dalson, London.
