Nintendo producer Yoshiaki Koizumi took some time to answer a few burning questions from fans, and they didn't waste any time getting right down to business. The first question asks why Mario has nipples and no belly button, a revelation made after a photo of a shirtless Mario in Super Mario Odyssey surfaced.
"So we're jumping into that question, are we?," Koizumi asks before providing an honest response. "Once I heard that people were talking so much about Mario’s belly button it made me start to think about whether we should revisit the topic on the design side.”
The very next question settles the great debate about Toad's head, which left many people shook and damn near killed childhoods when speculation grew about whether or not that mushroom thing was actually a hat. "So that, as it turns out, is actually Toad's head," Koizumi said. "I'm going to have to leave it to all of you to figure out exactly how that works out. Maybe there's something inside..." Whatever. We can all just sleep peacefully at night now.
