After landing an Oscar nod for her performance in Mudbound (and another one for Best Original Song), Mary J. Blige has found her next big acting gig. Deadline reports that Blige is set to join the cast of Netflix's upcoming show The Umbrella Academy, which is based on Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance fame's eponymous comic book series.

The Umbrella Academy follows the story of a dysfunctional family of superheroes as they reunite to uncover who killed their father. Blige will be joining an impressive cast headlined by Ellen Page , David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagh and Tom Hopper. Blige will star as a psychotic hitwoman named Cha-Cha who time travels to kill her marks. In the original comic book series, Cha-Cha was joined by a partner who goes by the name of Hazel, though Netflix has yet to announce who'll be Blige's running mate.

While there's plenty of superhero shows on television and especially on Netflix, the eventual arrival of The Umbrella Academy should get you very excited. The style of the comic book series is quite severe and gothic, which will undoubtedly make it stand out among the countless Marvel and DC Comics adaptions currently infiltrating the small screen. Blige should fit right in.
