As if Game of Thrones wasn't already dominating every waking minute of its fans' lives, there is now word of a brand new mobile game on the horizon that will guarantee to occupy the space in between binge-watching and speculating about the final season

HBO along with developers Behaviour Interactive and GAEA Technology announced a partnership to develop a strategy game based around the hit series. The best part? The new GoT game will be free-to-play on iOS and Android mobile platforms.

In an official statement, Behaviour Interactive CEO and executive producer Rémi Racine says, "Behaviour is extremely proud to partner with HBO to create an innovative new game based on one of the most popular TV series in the world.  This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for us as game developers to work on a brand that we admire and respect as fans. Game of Thrones has captivated audiences from around the world, and we truly believe that, with HBO, we can deliver on the high expectations that the show commands.”

GAEA Technology has been brought into the development process to help create a game accessible for audiences all around the globe. The official press release goes on to promise the game "will capture the depth of the creatures, characters, cultures, legends and mythologies that exist across Westeros and beyond and allow players to use them to explore, build, plot, and conquer for years to come."

Despite further details being kept to a minimum for the time being, including an official title or release date, the writing is pretty much on the wall (pun intended): this game is going to be a certified hit. The only thing GoT diehards could possibly love as much as watching the epic battles unfold on TV is being able to lead the characters into battle and control the outcome themselves. Hopefully they won't have to wait as long for the game as they do the show's final season, which won't premiere until 2019.
