People on Twitter waste no time when it comes to calling out hypocritical support of the Time’s Up movement. Take Justin Timberlake or James Franco, for example. Today, that criticism is being aimed at actress Nina Dobrev, who is an outspoken supporter of Time’s Up and a fan/friend of actor Johnny Depp.

What does Captain Jack Sparrow have to do with this? Well, last summer, before all the #MeToo news, Johnny Depp and his ex-wife Amber Heard settled their divorce following Heard's domestic abuse accusations. Heard got a restraining order against Depp in 2016 but never ended up pressing charges. Even though this happened before the Harvey Weinstein dam broke, Depp remains to many another name on the list of powerful and abusive men in Hollywood who need to be reckoned with through the Time’s Up movement.

Dobrev is a supporter of that movement. She even changed her Twitter avi to the Time’s Up logo. But on Tuesday, the Vampire Diaries star posted a photo of herself holding onto Depp’s side at a charity event, and that’s what set people off.

nina dobrev enjoying her time with johnny depp while being a part of time’s up movement just goes to show how hypocritical and two-faced hollywood actually is

look at your profile icon and look at this photo with this man, it practically goes against what you believe about feminism

Awesome picture. Nice to see those who defend feminism, are not always so quick to condemn. He was never guilty of anything. She lied, and he is great with children!

Of course, people are also defending Dobrev and Depp.

Dobrev has yet to respond to any of the backlash from the post, and she hasn’t deleted it yet, despite all the negative comments. This really isn’t a good look for Dobrev, who has decided to actively advocate for a movement that speaks out against not only shitty men but also a complicit industry.
