'Atlanta' Star Lakeith Stanfield Signs on to 'Girl With the Dragon Tattoo' Sequel

The film should be out in October of 2018.

Lakeith Stanfield, best known for his breakout roles on the hit television series Atlanta and 2017's critically-acclaimed film Get Outhas signed on to be a part of the Girl With the Dragon Tattoo sequel The Girl in the Spider's Web, according to Variety.

The follow-up to the 2011 drama also includes Claire Foy who will play main character Lisbeth Salander. Sylvia Hoeks, who recently appeared in Blade Runner 2049, will play Salander's twin sister, and Claes Bang will be playing the villain of the film. Stanfield's exact role in the film has not yet been confirmed. However, if his performance is anything like what we have come to expect from him following his recurring role in Atlanta and supporting role in Get Out, then it is surely not going to disappoint viewers. 

While news of this project gives Stanfield's fans something else to look forward to from the actor, many are still eagerly anticipating any and all news regarding the second season of Donald Glover's Atlanta series. The return has been teased in the past numerous times, even by Stanfield himself. The latest news coming from a Dec. 2017 Instagram post by Stanfield indicating the beloved FX series could be premiering its second season in Dec. 2018. 

Shooting for The Girl in the Spider's Web is set to begin this month in Berlin and Stockholm with a tentative release date for the film set for Oct. 2018.
