A year ago, we ranked the 25 best TV shows of 2016. Clocking in at No. 3, behind only Atlanta and The People v. O.J. Simpson, was HBO’s High Maintenance. And at last, after a 14-month hiatus, season 2 of the comedy is fast approaching. HBO will release the premiere episode Jan. 19, and today we've got the trailer. “The Guy is back,” as it says.
The clip includes several clear references to its weed theme, including a “joint effort” quip and a yoga instructor saying, “Inhale this beautiful existence and exhale peace.” The Guy is a nameless weed deliveryman whose eyes provide the lens through which the show explores a diverse crowd of New Yorkers. There are all kinds of people—middle-aged swingers, new parents, Muslim students—who, in their quest to find weed, encounter The Guy.
The hilarious and humanizing comedy was created by Katja Blichfeld (casting director of 30 Rock) and Ben Sinclair (Home Again, Sisters), who plays The Guy.
