Prepare yourself. Harry Potter is about to get the Pokemon Go treatment.

On Wednesday, development company Niantic announced its next major augmented reality mobile game will be called Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. The game, which has been co-developed by Warner Bros. Interactive, will be similar to the company’s Pokemon Go and Ingress apps in that it will feature location-based AR that allows players to explore their surroundings while completing missions.

"With Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, players that have been dreaming of becoming real life Wizards will finally get the chance to experience J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World," Niantic wrote on its website. "Players will learn spells, explore their real world neighborhoods and cities to discover & fight legendary beasts and team up with others to take down powerful enemies."

There aren’t many details about the game, such as its expected release date; however, TechCrunch reports it is scheduled to launch in 2018. Which makes sense considering the sequel to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will hit theaters next November.

Stay tuned as more information about Harry Potter: Wizards Unite becomes available.

Reports of a Harry Potter AR game began circulating in 2016, right around the time Pokemon Go was losing momentum. The news was first reported by a website called JTHX News; however, after some quick digging, Gizmodo discovered the whole thing was a hoax. Not this time around.
