Actress, J-Law corrector, and NSFW interviewee Gabrielle Union joined host James Corden (and Method Man) on The Late Late Show on Monday night. While there, she discussed how it wasn't exactly love at first sight with her husband, NBA star Dwyane Wade

In the interview, Union recalled that legendary songstress and pie-slinger Patti LaBelle noted Wade's interest and tried to convince Union to dump her then-boyfriend and get with the ballplayer.

"He's a bit younger than me, so it felt like he was 12," the actress remembered. "He was super-shy and quiet... [Patti] was like, 'Girl, you better drop that zero and get you a hero.' So it was Miss Patti that nudged me in the direction."

Union said that Wade's sobriety at the time made his attempted pickup spot—a bar—somewhat awkward.

"It was like sober guy in the bar, which is a little lurky," she continued. "When I first saw him, he was just watching us from up above... None of it felt like, yeah, this is the guy I'm gonna spend the rest of my life with." You can watch the whole tale above.

Union was on the show promoting her new memoir We're Going to Need More Wine, which has already made news with its recounting of her struggles of trying to get pregnant.
