While hosting the amfAR Gala in Los Angeles, James Corden made jokes about sexual predator Harvey Weinstein and the long list of sexual abuse allegations made against him. The jokes didn't sit too well with much of the audience and folks on social media.

Asia Argento and Rose McGowan, two woman who have alleged that they have been sexually harassed by Weinstein, took to Twitter to express their disgust with Corden's jokes making light of their abuse.

Corden responded to the backlash by taking to Twitter to write: "To be clear, sexual assault is no laughing matter. I was not trying to make light of Harvey’s inexcusable behavior... but to shame him, the abuser, not his victims. I am truly sorry for anyone offended, that was never my intention."

In recent days, Harvey Weinstein has been expelled from The Academy and BAFTA. His wife has left him. He has also been fired from his company.
