Sean Spicer Makes a Surprise Cameo at the Emmys

Sean Spicer stopped by the 2017 Emmys to remind everyone that this is the "largest audience to witness an Emmys, period."

When host Stephen Colbert needed to figure out how many people were currently watching the 2017 Primetime Emmys, he knew who would be the perfect person to ask. Then, out of nowhere, Sean Spicer rolled onto the stage behind the portable podium made famous by Melissa McCarthy in her Saturday Night Live sketches about the former White House Press Secretary.

Everyone in the audience was more than stunned to see Spicer take the stage.

"This will be the largest audience to witness an Emmys, period, both in person and around the world," Spicer said, referencing his remarks in response to crowd size at Donald Trump's presidential inauguration during his first White House press briefing.

"Wow, that really soothes my fragile ego," Colbert responded. "I can understand why you would want one of these guys around. Melissa McCarthy, everybody!"

Before stopping by the Emmys, Spicer made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! earlier this week. Needless to say, Spicer is doing everything he can to humanize himself following his regrettable tenure in the Trump administration. And it looks like the Emmys community is welcoming him with open arms.

While speaking with the press backstage, after snagging the award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, Alec Baldwin discussed Spicer's appearance during Stephen Colbert's opening monologue and even revealed what they have in common.
