(You know the drill by now: this piece will contain Game of Thrones, season 7 spoilers aplenty. Come back when you're caught up.)

The past several weeks have gone by faster than Drogon flew from Dragonstone to north of the Wall, ridiculous timeline aside. There's only one episode left in season 7 of Game of Thrones, and only one season left in the entire series. Fans are predictably, and understandably, freaking TF out with anticipation. At the same time, Thrones stans are also working overtime to figure out just how this season will end. Since Sunday's episode, rumors and revelations have been dropping left and right. The most intense of these points of discussion have centered around Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen's future—as rulers, and as a potential couple.

While some of us were hoping the two headstrong leaders would hook up, others were completely against it, because incest, among other reasons. Understandable. But now, we apparently have official word that the deed is indeed going down. Alan Taylor, director of the most recent episode, has been running his mouth all week about what's on the horizon for the show, ahead of Sunday's grand finale. He alluded to a "violent" confrontation between Arya and Sansa, the Stark sisters, and he cleared the air about what really happened to Jon Snow's sword after he resurfaced from the frozen lake beyond the Wall. This time, Taylor has taken it upon himself to confirm that Jon and Dany will be knocking boots in the very near future.

"There's no secret that this is where this is going," Taylor told The Daily Beast. "Readers of the book have known that things were heading towards this destination for a while. Even the characters in this story know it's heading in this direction. Tyrion is making fun of Dany about what's brewing. So we knew it's got to come at some point, and I was glad that I got to be there for a major step forward for them."

Earlier this week, Reddit user DeeHi shared a clip from an extensive interview George R.R. Martin did three years ago, where he discussed the Targaryen family and its relationships. And George dropped a fucking gem that supports Taylor's claims:

"Targaryens were interlopers from another culture, and they had some unique factors that didn't necessarily fit into the mainstream of the other Westerosi Lords, such as their traditional incest, which was part of keeping the bloodlines pure so that they could better control the dragons, brother marrying sister, and nephews and aunts, and so forth."

The fact that Martin specifically mentioned nephews and aunts is huge. And the bit about dragon control? It makes Jon's bonding moment with Drogon that much more significant. Martin and Taylor's comments combined indicate the hook-up is pretty much set to happen. So if incest isn't your thing, maybe plan a bathroom break during that scene?
