It's been a little over two months since we got the first trailer for Marvel's The Defenders, which hits Netflix on August 18, and while we've been patiently waiting to get more clues regarding the long-awaited team up of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and the Iron Fist (which is getting a second season), we knew that Comic-Con was right around the corner. Hell, Comic-Con 2016 was when we got the first whiff of news on the series, so lucky for us, Netflix and Marvel delivered in spades a year later.

The trailer opens with Sigourney Weaver's Alexandra comparing the world of heroes to the world of villains, and highlighting how similar the sides are. "It only works if both sides believe they are the good guys," she says. We see that she's then talking to Elektra, who (spoiler alert) was dead at the end of the second season of Daredevil. We then see the foursome trying to figure out their next move—including if they'd even be moving towards their shared goal together—while trying to figure out each other's powers.

It's pretty damn intense, with Stick, Claire, and other allies from the four Netflix series showing up. While the first trailer was more on the comedic side, trailer No. 2 is all business...with a hint of humor. Check for Jessica downing a can of beer on the subway train at the end.

That's not all, though; Deadlinespilled the beans on the first episode, which was shown during Comic-Con. We'll be giving some details below, so if you don't want to be spoiled, just re-watch the trailer up above and wait for the series to premiere on August 18. Now onto the good stuff.

  • The Punisher reportedly makes an appearance in episode one, although he is apparently injured, with Jessica Jones and Iron Fist trying to save him [Ed Note: We can now confirm that The Punisher did not show up in the first episode, nor was it Iron Fist and Jessica Jones fighting to save him; it was Iron Fist and Colleen Wing trying to save some other guy.]
  • Many of the heroes are picking up their storylines directly around the end of their respective season finales
  • Alexandra is apparently suffering from a fatal disease that is killing her from the inside. It's said that she's wealthy, and is working with The Hand.
  • Elektra makes an appearance
