Following disheartening news of the departure of the first film's director Tim Miller and its composer Junkie XLDeadpool 2 finally some good news to share: We have a release date! Well, sort of.

According to Collider, 20th Century Fox is looking to release the Deadpool sequel next year. As for an exact date, it's anyone's guess. The film studio has already etched out three dates (March 2, 2018, June 29, 2018, and November 2, 2018) for three movies coming out of the X-Men universe. Aside from Deadpool 2, 20th Century Fox will bring the latest installment of the comic book franchise, reportedly titled X-Men: Supernova, and a spin-off called The New Mutants

Simon Kinberg, who will produce all three films, recently provided an update on the progress of every film scheduled for a 2018 release, including Deadpool 2.

"Similarly with Deadpool 2, Ryan and the guys have been working hard on the script. We have a really good script for that movie, and we’re into the casting process right now for some of the new characters," Kinberg said. "There aren’t a lot of new characters, but there are some big ones, as I’m sure you can imagine. And the plan would be to shoot that movie this year as well and have it come out next year. So potentially next year you will have a surfeit of X-Men and X-Men-related movies in theaters.”

With Deadpool writers, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, already confirming that Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Colossus will appear in the sequel, we can't wait to see what surprises the sequel has up its sleeve.
