Following Carrie Fisher's death last month, many fans wondered what was going to happen to her most famous character, Princess Leia. Speculation was enhanced by the fact that a CGI Fisher (though one with her real voice) appeared in the latest Star Wars film, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

To put an end to speculation and press reports about the possibility of a digitized Leia, StarWars.com posted an official statement on Friday saying that they had "no plans to digitally recreate Carrie Fisher's performance."

We don’t normally respond to fan or press speculation, but there is a rumor circulating that we would like to address. We want to assure our fans that Lucasfilm has no plans to digitally recreate Carrie Fisher’s performance as Princess or General Leia Organa.

Before her death, Fisher had finished filming her part for the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VIIIThere has been no word about how or if future films in the Star Wars universe will reflect the passing of the actress who gave life to General Leia Organa.

In general, supporters of the series were relieved by the statement.

And one big fan just couldn't help himself, cracking a joke that Fisher herself would likely have appreciated.
