Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, a movie so good it puts Michael Shannon to sleep, is now out here getting mashed up with the world of Star Wars. Following years of playful back-and-forth with The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams on social media, Zack Snyder upped the stakes this week by making his own Batman v Superman x Star Wars mashup trailer.

The trailer, first shared by Snyder via the social media service Vero, sets up a theoretical crossover event entitled Dark Side Knight v SuperJedi: Dawn of the Alliance. That's a catchy as hell title, no doubt about it. But do we really want these worlds interacting? Do we really need to bring every conceivable mashup into existence?

This whole Snyder v Abrams saga kicked off way back in 2014 when both Batman v Superman and The Force Awakens were in production, with the two directors exchanging images of "SuperJedi" and "Boyega-Man" on Twitter:

In subsequent months, Snyder and Abrams continued the nods by sharing seemingly improbable images of R2-D2 and a goth AF take on C-3PO:

Speaking of Michael Shannon falling asleep, here's what he had to say about peeping his own (admittedly brief) appearance in Batman v Superman: "People ask me about this all the time," Shannon toldFandango last month. "Okay, I'll tell you the god's honest truth. Zack [Snyder] is gonna kill me for this. He's gonna kill me. I watched it once and I fell asleep."
