Director: John Woo
Stars: Chow Yun-fat, Tony Leung Chiu-Wai, Teresa Mo, Philip Chan, Philip Kwok, Anthony Wong Chau Sang, Bowie Lam

The beauty of flicks like John Woo's undisputed classic Hard Boiled is that they're able to mask otherwise mundane, seen-it-before plots by simply blowing our minds in presentation. Chow Yun-fat, at his best, stars as a police officer who teams up with a dirtier cop (Tony Leung) to avenge a partner's murder and take down a band of gun-toting mobsters. Sounds derivative, no? Just try thinking that while basking in the altogether explosive film's monstrous climax, which involves a maternity ward, newborn children, and multiple homicides.
