Robert Redford isn't planning to do this acting thing much longer, he revealed in an interview Thursday with his grandson for the Walker Art Center. There’s quite a bit of retiring going on, with fellow director Quentin Tarantino recently reminding audiences he plans to retire after directing two more films.

Redford is best known for starring in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and All the President's Men, as well as founding the Sundance Film Festival. The 80-year-old Redford said he’s retiring after two more of his films are released. “Once they’re done then I’m going to say, ‘Okay, that’s goodbye to all that,’ and then just focus on directing,” Redford said. One of the films is a love story opposite Jane Fonda, and the other film is with Casey Affleck and Sissy Spacek. According to IMDB, the two films are set to premiere next year.

Describing himself as an “impatient person” in the interview, Redford said, “...it’s hard for me to sit around and do take after take after take. Going back to sketching — that’s sort of where my head is right now.” In the interview, Redford talked about painting as a teen and wanting to be an artist.

It seems Redford might be getting ahead of himself, since his publicist toldDeadline: “He is certainly not retiring now from acting because he has several projects coming down the pike.”

Despite never winning an Oscar for acting, Redford nabbed a golden statue for Best Director in 1981 for Ordinary People.
