Netflix has announced that Dave Chappelle is bringing an all-new stand-up special to the platform "soon." In fact, Netflix is apparently feeling extra generous, as the cable-killing streaming platform actually announced THREE new Chappelle specials:

Chappelle recently made a return to TV by hosting the first post-election episode of Saturday Night Live earlier this month, joining musical guests A Tribe Called Quest for arguably one of the strongest episodes of the season. The episode followed a brief bout of controversy after some misleading headlines suggested that Chappelle had praised the President-elect while dissing Hillary Clinton, something Chappelle himself quickly corrected:

Though not much is known regarding Chappelle's Netflix trilogy, Bloomberg's Lucas Shaw clarified Monday that two of the specials are coming straight from "his personal comedy vault" and another includes footage from his recent tour:

Netflix is clearly interested in dominating the stand-up game, as news of Chappelle's trilogy comes just weeks after the streaming platform announced a $40 million deal with Chris Rock:

"Chris Rock is a beloved actor and director, and his remarkable stand-up makes him comic royalty," Ted Sarandos, Netflix CCO, said in a press release in October."There is no one like him, and Netflix offers the global platform and creative freedom that will serve as a perfect home for someone with his incredible talent." Rock and Chappelle's specials join a growing roster of comedy legends turning to Netflix, with previous converts including David Cross and Aziz Ansari.
