As resident Deadpool stan here at Complex, it's getting harder and harder to not be frustrated at the Deadpool 2 news that's coming out. Just recently, Deadpool director Tim Miller left the project due to "creative differences" with Ryan Reynolds (a.k.a. they couldn't agree on who'd play Cable, and Reynolds didn't want the film to be more "stylized," which Fox agreed with). With Miller moving on to directing a Sonic the Hedgehog movie, the composer for Deadpool, Junkie XL, has left Deadpool 2 as well.

In a recent Facebook post, Junkie XL (real name: Tom Holkenborg) said it's "with a heavy heart that I have decided not to score the upcoming Deadpool movie," He continued. "I love this character and creating his and the movie's original score was a monumental chapter in my life, personally and professionally." Why? "Since it was revealed that Deadpool's brilliant creative director Tim Miller will not be involved in the project anymore," he continued, "I have undertaken some soul searching. Tim was the driving force behind Deadpool and me getting involved in this amazing project. Deadpool without Tim at the helm just does not sit right with me and that is why I have decided not to be involved in the second chapter."

Could this spell trouble for the Deadpool sequel? It's too early to say. In my opinion, Fox was right in agreeing with Reynolds regarding the second Deadpool film retaining the look and humor of the first instead of trying to "Hollywood" it up. Junkie XL's soundtrack, though? That was widely acclaimed, to the point where a second soundtrack album was released with even more music. Junkie XL's also lowkey been a go-to producer for film scores, with Mad Max: Fury RoadBatman v Superman: Dawn of JusticeBlack Mass and others coming from his studio (and 2017's Justice League already on the horizon).

Truthfully, it's just a bummer. For the first film to murder the box office while keeping true to the spirit of the comic book, it was one of the truest wins for Deadpool fans. The ideal situation is that the band would stay together for round 2. I just hope that Ryan Reynolds, who is starting to feel like Fox's golden child, is sticking to his guns for a sequel that will be even better than the first film. Fingers crossed.
