Law & Order: SVU frequently has risqué ripped-from-the-headlines episodes. But they've finally found a subject that's too hot for TV—at least for the next few weeks.

Variety is reporting that NBC has delayed a Donald Trump-inspired episode of SVU until after the election. The episode, which was written months ago, was originally supposed to air Oct. 12, then Oct. 26, before this latest report. As of this writing, no new date has been set.

The episode, titled "Unstoppable," features actor Gary Cole playing a brash rich guy partial to red ties who decides to run for the White House, but whose campaign may be stopped by accusations of sexual assault. You can see a trailer for "Unstoppable" above.

Variety is reporting that the way the Trump analog is portrayed has been softened and made more sympathetic as time has gone on, which has upset some of the actors and writers on the show. In addition, some of the show's talent reportedly feel that delaying the episode's airing is a politically motivated decision. And given the fact that footage from NBC has played a key role in the unraveling of Trump's campaign, their sentiments may well be accurate.

"Unstoppable" was written by  Julie Martin and SVU showrunner Rick Eid. It has been closely looked at both by people at Wolf Entertainment, which produces the show; and by top people at NBC. In addition to Cole and the regular SVU cast, it features Peter Gallagher, Currie Graham, Meredith Travers and Bianca Amato.
