While we have around two years before Ben Affleck's previously-confirmed standalone Batman film (which he plans on writing, directing, and starring in) to hit theaters, said movie appears to have an official (and minimalist) title: The Batman.

During a recent interview with the Associated Press regarding his upcoming film The Accountant, Affleck said: "The movie, I think, is going to be called ‘The Batman’. At least that’s what we’re going with right now. I might change it… That’s about all I got right now. We’re working on the script, the script is going well, I’m really excited about it."

As of this writing, The Batman (or whatever it'll be called) doesn't have a confirmed story, but thing it will have is Joe Manganiello portraying cult favorite supervillain Deathstroke. It was Affleck who was eager to get the comic book contingent all up in their feelings by teasing some footage of Deathstroke doing his thing, and in a recent interview with Collider, Affleck explained why he chose Deathstroke to be Batman's villain.

"He’s a great villain because—I just had an instinctive feeling that he would match up with him well. You know, I’m a big admirer of that character as well, especially in the New 52 the way that they did Deathstroke, and I thought that it could work."

It'll be interesting to see how Affleck weaves Deathstroke into the story,  especially if he's weaving Deathstroke's New 52 storyline into today's DC Extended Universe. Or if The Batman continues to be a thing. Either way, Affleck better have a scorcher on his hands; let Samuel L. Jackson tell it, DC's cool but is in dire need of a scorcher to keep them on par with Marvel. Hopefully something on their horizon can be the homerun it's have been searching for, but if not, an Affleck-helmed Batman project might do the trick.
