At the end of August, Ben Affleck renewed interest in the DC Extended Universe with a tease of what Deathstroke could look like on film. The Wrap announced that Deathstroke would be the main villain in the next Batman movie, and today we know who will officially don the Deathstroke mask.

While there's barely any news to go with it, DC Entertainment president and CCO Geoff Johns did confirm to The Wall Street Journal that Joe Manganiello, former star of HBO's True Blood and the Magic Mike films, would be playing Deathstroke. Interestingly, Johns declined commenting on Deathstroke possibly being in Justice League, but WSJ did note that a) Justice League is currently shooting in London and b) the script for the next Batman film (which will be directed by Batfleck) hasn't even been completed yet. It begs the question, "Well, where did this footage come from?"

Manganiello's had an interesting history with Deathstroke on the silver screen, though; many might remember that in early 2015, Joe was rumored to be playing Deathstroke in Suicide Squad, and was even rumored to have been considered to play Batman at some point.

Until confirmation on when we'll first see Deathstroke on-screen, heads are left to speculate on (and salivate over) when we'll actually get the fan favorite on film.

Nice to see Joe Manganiello confirmed as Deathstroke. He was always the top choice per my sources and I think he’s the right one.
Joe Manganiello as #Deathstroke is actually a great choice. Now we just need a RELEASE DATE for the solo Batman film!!
