UPDATED 2:28 p.m. ET: Angelina Jolie has filed for divorce from Brad Pitt, TMZ reported Tuesday. Alleged legal documents obtained by TMZ show that Jolie is citing "irreconcilable differences." Jolie is reportedly asking for physical custody of their 6 children, asking a judge to give visitation rights to Pitt.

The judge request means that Jolie reportedly doesn't want Pitt to be granted joint physical custody, just legal custody. As for any alleged "third person" theories, TMZ reported that there are simply no such incidents involved in the filing. Sources claim that Jolie's divorce filing is related to "the way Brad was parenting the children," adding that Jolie was reportedly "extremely upset" with his parenting methods. In fact, sources claim the divorcing filing is solely due to this disagreement. As for additional info on these disagreements, TMZ's sources allege that Jolie had become "fed up" with Pitt's "consumption of weed and possibly alcohol." Additionally, this same source alleges that "an anger problem" contributed to the divorce.

A separate (and very Page Six-y) report from Page Six, however, claims that Jolie dumped Pitt after a hired private investigator uncovered some sort of an affair with Marion Cotillard. "[Jolie] hired a private eye because she felt that he was fooling around with her on the set, and it turns out, he was," a source told the publication Tuesday, actually managing to say "private eye" in front of real people. "That was the final straw." Another source told Page Six that Jolie and Pitt had been arguing over their differences in lifestyle in recent months, adding that Jolie wants to be a full-time humanitarian while Pitt is still about that Hollywood life.

Jolie, who is not seeking spousal support in the divorce, married Pitt in August 2014 after nearly a decade together. Alleged divorce documents obtained by TMZ Tuesday show the date of separation to be Sept. 15. The couple was last spotted in public by TMZ in July, with Jolie and Pitt taking their twins out for breakfast in West Hollywood. Representatives for Jolie and Pitt did not immediately respond to Complex's request for comment.

Jolie and Pitt last appeared together in the film By the Sea, a 2015 drama penned and directed by Jolie. The film, set in 1970s France and centered on a struggling married couple, was met with slightly mixed reviews but received praise for the sly darkness lurking under its glossy exterior.

In a statement obtained byHarper's Bazaar Tuesday, Jolie's lawyer Robert Offer confirmed the divorce. "This decision was made for the health of the family," Offer said. "She will not be commenting and asks that the family will be given its privacy at this time."

Pitt released a brief statement of his own to People shortly after. "I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the wellbeing of our kids," Pitt said. "I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time."

Jon Voight, Jolie's father, spoke with Entertainment Tonight Tuesday afternoon and expressed his shock at the news. "It must have been pretty severe for this to happen," Voight said. "I don't know much yet, but [I] plan on speaking to her and the kids very soon."
