There's hope for the Power Rangers reboot movie yet, as Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad's Walter White) has been cast as the mighty Zordon. The Power Rangers reboot has alreadysuffered from fan's criticisms of the Rangers new suits and the sexier, and not to mention greener, Rita Repulsa.
For those of you who just didn't have the time for the awesomely campy '90s Mighty Morphin Power Rangers TV series, Zordon is the Rangers' creator who assembled the teenage super team and later mentored them to defeat the evil powers that be. Cranston's casting as Zordon—and not the villainous Lord Zedd as we recommended—was announced Tuesday.
The mighty #Zordon has officially been cast! Please welcome #BryanCranston to the #PowerRangersMovie. pic.twitter.com/MbJDR7PnfI
Cranston tweeted the casting news saying he was "excited" to join the Power Rangers movie.
Excited to play #Zordon in the #PowerRangersMovie! T or F: #BlueRanger Billy Cranston was named after what actor? https://t.co/d3ltjpcDKb
You see, Young (Bryan) Cranston did voiceover work on the previously mentioned Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and was so well-liked the character was named after him. Here's some of Cranston's work on MMPR playing Rangers foes "Twin Man" and "Snizzard."
The shades of an Emmy award winner in the making if you ask me.
The Power Rangers movie includes Elizabeth Banks as Rita Repulsa, Becky G as the Yellow Ranger (and perhaps the most recognizable name of the Rangers), Ludi Lin as the Black Ranger, RJ Cyler as the Blue Ranger, Naomi Scott as the Pink Ranger, and Dacre Montgomery as the Red Ranger.
The Power Rangers movie will (hopefully) electrify audiences when it hits theaters Mar. 24, 2017.
