The late Tupac Shakur, the subject of the forthcoming biopic All Eyez on Me, would have turned 45 on Thursday. To celebrate his life and legacy, the team behind the long-awaited production has finally unveiled the first teaser for the film via Big Boy's Neighborhood. It shows Demetrius Shipp Jr. embodying the legendary rapper and activist like some would have never thought possible.

The film, originally titled Tupac, battled a history of false starts before finally finding the cast and crew it needed to pull off one of the most highly anticipated stories in music history. Shipp is joined by Jamal Woolard, reprising his role as Notorious B.I.G. after first playing the late icon in the 2009 biopic Notorious.

In an interview with XXL in March, Shipp said his own passion as a person helped him understand the mindset of Tupac as an artist. "I have to say that I'm a very passionate person, a person that’s very driven on integrity and my beliefs," Shipp said. "I believe there's definitely a similarity there. Just getting into the character, I fell in love with who he was. It was common things that were brought together with me and him, our childhood. It was a crazy thing to be able to do it."

All Eyez on Me also stars The Walking Dead's Danai Gurira as Afeni Shakur, Stefon Washington as Puff Daddy, Grace Gibson as Faith Evans, Kat Graham as Jada Pinkett, and many more. The film is directed by Benny Boom, known for his previous work with Wale and 50 Cent, and is set to hit theaters Nov. 11.
