Stephen King’s The Dark Tower is a sprawling eight-book saga that’s thought of as King’s masterpiece by many of his fans. A film adaptation has been mooted for nearly a decade, but due to its massive length and metaphorical plot, many deemed it unfilmable. But earlier this year it was announced that Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey had been cast as gunslinger hero Roland Deschain and villain Randall Flagg respectively.
Since then, we haven’t heard much more, and it still remains one of those “We’ll believe it when we see it” projects. Yet this is a sign that everything is still on course: Idris Elba has tweet this mysterious image:
That caption is a relation to the books, though what story the film will actually take is still yet to be revealed. The Dark Tower is due to be released early next year.
