"The Purge: Election Year" | Featured Trailer of the Week

The campaign is about to get bloody.

It’s an election year, and there are a lot of issues weighing on people’s minds. But in the nail-biting new thriller The Purge: Election Year, there’s only one issue that truly matters: survival. The film reunites us with Leo Barnes (Frank Grillo). When we first met Barnes in the Purge: Anarchy, he was out for revenge, and planned to use the night of the annual Purge—where all crime is legal for 12 hours—to kill the man who murdered his son. But Barnes is a changed person now, and is working security detail for a promising senator, Charlene Roan (Elizabeth Mitchell), who wants to end the Purge once and for all.     Unfortunately, not everybody shares her enthusiasm with doing so, and Roan has made some very powerful enemies. After someone in the Senator’s camp betrays her, she and Barnes find themselves out in the streets in the midst of the Purge, where they have to try and do one thing: survive the night and must fight tostay alive until dawn. Barnes is the Senator’s only hope to live, and therefore the only hope of ending the Purge for good.    The Purge: Election Year hits theaters July 1 st this Friday, but you can check out the heart pounding new trailer in the video above.
