Game of Thrones stayed very on-brand with Sunday's act of ruthlessness, crushing the spirits of fans in a way that not even the complicated history of Jon Snow could match. But what about those fans armed with mind-boggling prediction abilities? Is being proven absolutely right more a burden than a victory? Note: As practically every facet of this article should already suggest, we are about to dive into an obvious (and heartbreaking) spoiler regarding Sunday's episode "The Door." Proceed with caution and/or a penchant for mourning.

While the rest of us were immediately tossed into a pit of despair following Hodor's brave act of sacrifice to save Bran Stark, one mindful frequenter of the A Song of Ice and Fire wiki was likely having a slightly different reaction:

The comment, which first popped up in a "What does Hodor mean?" thread back in 2008, clearly hit the nail on the head. Though the comment may have been presented in jest, others quickly co-signed the theory as a solid starting point for further speculation:

Sadly, Hodor changing his name to "Thankyou" never came to pass. But maybe Thrones fans (a.k.a. masochists) can find some solace in the words of Hodor himself, Kristian Nairn.

"Funnily enough, I just saw [the scene] today for the first time," Nairn toldEntertainment Weekly on Sunday. "I couldn't be happier how he has gone out. The interesting thing is it's kinda left open. You don't actually see him [die]. It's implied. So who knows? He may come back as a White Walker, maybe he got away."

Even Nairn got caught up in making predictions in 2013, as noted by a studious Reddit user. "I'd like to die fighting an army of White Walkers," the actor told Flicks and the City, clearly unaware of his own prescience. "Just sort of a huge action scene would be nice. I'd enjoy that!"
