UPDATE (03/04/2016): The Wrap reports that a statement has since been released by Michael Smith, Georgia Ling (Smith's alleged victim), and Trailer Park Boys. Ling says that she and Smith had "a heavy argument, but it saddens me the way things are being reported and the way it was handled by the police."

"At no point did I feel I was in danger, otherwise I would’ve called the police myself, which I did not," Ling continues. "The police were called by others not present in the room who mistakenly perceived the argument to be something other than what it was. When the officers arrived I tried to assure them there was no real issue, but they proceeded to arrest Mike."

"Georgia is a friend of mine and we had a loud and heated dispute. That is all. At no time did I assault her. I am not guilty of the misdemeanor charged against me," Smith added.

The Trailer Park Boys staff issued a statement saying they "stand behind Mike and look forward to the matter being resolved favourably."

See original story below.

Michael Smith, the 43-year-old Canadian actor who plays "Bubbles" on Netflix's Trailer Park Boys was arrested Friday morning after he was accused of choking a 21-year-old woman.

According to TMZ, witnesses saw Smith fighting with a woman in the bathrooms by the pool at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood. Apparently they were arguing over someone Smith may have been texting, and at one point she was heard her screaming, "You're choking me!" The witnesses evidentially saw Smith holding the woman up against a wall. He then ran from the location

After he returned he was promptly arrested and charged with domestic battery. As reported by People, he was then released on bail for $20,000 at 5 AM.

Trailer Park Boys is a Canadian drama that takes on a mockumentary form and first premiered in 2001. It follows several residents of trailer park in the Nova Scotia province in Canada. The show stopped air for awhile in 2008, but was later picked up by Netflix. Season 8 premiered on the network in 2014, 9 in 2015, and, just last week, season 10 debuted. An 11th season for the show is also in the works.

Since its original run, Smith has played "Bubbles," the rare good-natured and soft-spoken resident of the trailer park. He has also starred in the three film adaptations of the series.

I guess his onscreen personality may not exactly match his real one.
