People who actually watched the cult classic Tales From the Crypt, because they weren't afraid of their own shadow like I am was (I couldn't even watch the made for kids Are You Afraid of the Dark? when it aired on SNICK or Goosebumps) say the show was great. I believe these people. So when plans for a reboot of Tales From the Crypt led by M. Night Shyamalan was announced people rightfully groaned (Ugh! Reboots). Some groaned again when rumors hit that the Crypt Keeper wasn't reprising its hosting duties for the reboot. What will the reaction be now that TNT has officially greenlit the Tales From the Crypt reboot?

Tales From the Crypt was a horror anthology series that aired on HBO in the '90s (long before Ryan Murphy "discovered" comedy-horror). The reboot of the series, to be executive produced by Shyamalan, is getting a 10-episode season on TNT reportsVulture.

The series reboot is said to be a part of a planned horror block. Tales From the Crypt will be in good company with two other shows: Time of Death and Creatures.

ColliderreportsTime of Death will have a season-long story format like American Horror Story but will tell those stories hour to hour. Here's the official synopsis: "Time of Death is planned as an anthology of season-long horror tales that unfold in real time—each one taking viewers hour-by-hour through a single "long night of hell." The first season will follow a murderous psychopath who returns to his Midwestern hometown during the annual county fair to exact revenge on a community he believes destroyed his life."

Creatures will follow two best friends after they're released from a psychiatric hospital which they were put in after trying to cut out a classmate's heart as tweens for one reason. The synopsis perCollider

"Creatures, a sophisticated psychological thriller that tells the disturbing tale of two former best friends who, at 12 years old, tried to cut out their classmate's heart as a sacrifice to an internet bogeyman they invented called Mr. Gorgi. Fifteen years later, the two young women have been released from a psychiatric institute into their small town in Alaska, but it's not long before they start to feel the alluring and terrifying presence of Mr. Gorgi once again. Creatures is a story of deep friendship and dark obsession, where a vivid imagination meets the power of suggestion and the seduction of belief."

In a press release from when plans for the reboot were announced Shyamalan said, "To be part of such a beloved brand like Tales from the Crypt, something I grew up watching, and to also have the chance to push the boundaries of genre television as a whole, is an inspiring opportunity that I can't wait to dive into."

Get ready to take the plunge this fall.
