Back in 2013 when The Conjuring came out, audiences were thoroughly frightened by the film's inventive combination of haunted house creepiness and demonic possession. The film confirmed director James Wan's masterful ability to make us cower in fear, but even he gets scared sometimes. Pretty recently we shared a list of the best horror movies available on Netflix, and before that Robert Eggers' critically-acclaimed The Witch provided enough horror to last a lifetime. Now there's more footage that'll get those chills racing up and down your spine again: Entertainment Weekly has shared the new trailer for The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist, and it looks absolutely terrifying.

In the new trailer Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga are back as demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren, and this time they're dealing with "England's Amityville." Frances O'Connor plays the role of a single mother who watches in dismay as her daughters get overtaken by an evil demon. The demon grows particularly fond of Janet, played by Madison Wolfe, in this story based on true events that have come to be known as The Enfield Poltergeist.

The trailer contains its fair share of moments that'll make you jump in your seat, like the snippet at the very end that shows a hair-raising encounter between Lorraine and a demon through a mirror. Other parts of the trailer show Janet very much possessed by the demonic spirit as well as the Warrens' gradual unraveling and descent into insanity as they tackle their most unnerving case yet. We still have a while to go until The Conjuring 2 comes out in theaters on June 10, but this trailer is enough to keep us plenty nervous until then.
