Taraji P. Henson may not be able to tell the difference between Coldplay and Maroon 5, but the Oscar-nominated and Golden Globe-winning actress just signed on to star in a movie about a group of black women mathematicians.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the Empire star has been cast in Fox 2000's Hidden Figures. The story follows a group of black women who gave NASA the important mathematical data needed to launch the space program’s first successful shuttle missions. The film is an adaptation of Margot Lee Shetterly's book of the same name.
Ted Melfi, who directed 2014’s St. Vincent, will helm the project. It’s slated for release Jan. 13, 2017, which falls on the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend.
