Fresh off his first SAG Award win for Best Actor and a visit with his BFF Pope Francis to talk about climate change, Leonardo DiCaprio is set to produce the film adaption of a post-apocalyptic young adult novel. PerVariety, Paramount Pictures has optioned The Sandcastle Empire, written by Kayla Olson.

Set in 2049, the story is set against the backdrop of disastrous world after the effects of climate change, overpopulation and coastal flooding. A group called The Wolfpack takes advantage of the situation and overthrows the government.

The novel centers on a young woman named Eden escapes one of their work camps and embarks on a journey to an island with three other girls. Along the way, she’ll discover clues as to what happened to her missing father and will learn that she is essential in bringing down the Wolfpack.

No word yet on who will direct the film or write the script.
