Joe Alaskey, a voice actor with memorable roles in classic series including Rugrats and Looney Tunes, has passed away at the age of 63. Alaskey's family confirmed the news on Wednesday night, TMZ reports. Following the death of Mel Blanc in 1989, Alaskey stepped in to help fill the shoes of Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, and a slew of other classic Warner Bros. characters.
Alaskey is also remembered for his turn as Louis Pickles II, a.k.a. Grandpa Lou, on Nickelodeon's Rugrats series and the feature-length productions The Rugrats Movie, Rugrats in Paris, and Rugrats Go Wild. Following his role in the underrated animation / live action mash-up Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Alaskey contributed his talents to Forrest Gump as disgraced president Richard Nixon.
The multitalented voice actor won in an Emmy in 2004 for his work on Duck Dodgers, which ran for three season on Cartoon Network. Alaskey had recently been battling cancer, CNN reports.
Rest in power, Joe Alaskey.
