All of you Tales From the Crypt creeps, freaks, and fans that got hype over M. Night Shyamalan bringing back the '90s anthology series to a horror block that the director would be executive-producing for TNT have been hit with a cruel twist. The Crypt Keeper, one of the most iconic horror hosts in all of television, won't be making its way into this TNT series.

While not 100% confirmed, Bloody Disgusting reports that while the series will only be similar in that it has the Tales From the Crypt title and will be on TV. As i09 pointed outTales From the Crypt is a title that comes from a comic book series from the 1950s, but the actual Crypt Keeper from the HBO television series was created specifically for the HBO show (although they did have a Crypt-Keeper character in the comics with some similarities). Bloody Disgusting goes on to say that the new Tales will be hosted by "an old man with a cane, wearing a hood, and keeping warm by a fireplace," which is more in tune with how the stories were presented in the comics.

John Kassir, the man who voiced HBO's Crypt Keeper, says it'd be a "sham/shame" not to have Crypt-y in the new series.

I'll go on record, "Crypt Keeper as we know him is more popular than ever & it'd be a sham/shame not to have him host the show!!!!!

But wait, it gets worse!

Instead of being Tales from the Crypt, this series will apparently just be one season-long Tale from the Crypt (apparently set in New Orleans).

These changes beg the question: Did Shyamalan even WATCH Tales From the Crypt? What made him think "wow, this show is awesome, let's bring it back without what made it awesome"? Better yet, with so many people thinking, "No Crypt Keeper = No Watching Tales From the Crypt (Shyamalan Remix)," is it even worth getting excited for?
