Michael Galeota, the former Disney Channel star most known for his starring role in The Jersey, has passed away. Galeota visited a hospital earlier this month due to abdominal pains before eventually leaving "against the doctors' advice," TMZ reports. Galeota, who reportedly suffered from hypertension and high cholesterol, was discovered unresponsive inside his Glendale home by a friend on Sunday.

"It is with tremendous heartfelt sadness to announce the passing of Michael James Galeota on January 10th," the Galeota family said in a statement on their Go Fund Me page, designated for raising money for burial and related expenses. "Although his life was short, we are grateful and appreciate the experience of having been loved, and loved him in return, and for being in our lives." At time of publication, the fundraiser has amassed nearly $18,000 of its $25,000 goal. As noted by Variety, the largest donation ($5,000) belongs to someone labeled simply as "Shia L," with some speculating the donation came from Galeota's fellow Disney alumShia LaBeouf.

In addition to his work on The Jersey, Galeota made memorable appearances in Ally McBeal, Clubhouse Detectives, Bushwhacked, and more. Though an autopsy will still be performed, Galeota's death is currently being treated as a result of "natural causes."

Rest in peace, Michael.
