Though many of us likely haven't recovered from this morning's news that one of the people responsible for the abysmal Sex Tape is directing the forthcoming Jumanji reboot, we must now face even more reboot news. 24, a series known for its appreciation of clocks and endless supply of footage centered on Kiefer Sutherland (Jack Bauer) skulking with a handgun, has been given a pilot order by FOX that reportedly has nothing to do with Jack Bauer.
The impending reboot is entitled 24: Legacy and will reportedly follow a roster of "all new characters," Variety reports:
24: Legacy will revolve around a military hero’s return to the U.S. and the trouble that follows him back — compelling him to ask CTU for help in saving his life, and stopping what potentially could be one of the largest-scale terror attacks on American soil.
Thankfully, there's a very promising silver lining to this Bauerless 24 reboot. Deadline's Nellie Andreeva reports that the lead character "was conceived as an African American," adding that all actors being considered for the role are black. Variety's report supports this claim, asserting that a "diverse lead" is currently a very strong possibility. The series, originally believed to be more of a traditional spin-off, will follow the same clock-loving vibes of the original 24. Shooting is set to begin later this year.
