As the brain-ruining debate surrounding gun laws in the United States trudges forward, one argument from so-called gun rights activists is the laughably oversimplified "good guy with a gun" theory. As the oft-repeated theory ridiculously states, some people actually subscribe to the idea that the only thing that stops a "bad guy with a gun" is something called a "good guy." For some perspective, let's not forget that a bunch of gun rights activists recently announced plans to stage a mock mass shooting in the name of, well, I'm actually not really sure.

The Daily Show's Jordan Klepper, a self-described "gun idiot," decided to spend Thursday's broadcast walking the relatively easy path toward being a certified "idiot with a gun." Klepper manages to pass his NRA safety course and nab a handgun license after eight hours of training, before eventually realizing this whole "good guy with a gun" thing might not be exactly what he had in mind:

"We have a pattern now of mass shootings in this country that has no parallel anywhere else in the world," President Obama told CBS News after the recent tragedy in San Bernardino. In 2015 alone, the United States has seen more than 350 mass shooting incidents.
