Stephen Colbert's storied relationship with Donald Trump has seen Colbert as a Trump detractor, calling the GOP candidate a "honey-glazed tiger testicle" during this election period, while also showing him respect and apologizing to him for things he had said previously—like the time he offered Trump a $1 million dollar donation to any charity he chose if he could "dip" a certain nether region in his face hole. Colbert showed some of that respect in an interview with CBS' Face the Nation airing this Sunday where he even complimented the Donald and admitted he might've been "wrong" to say he had no chance at winning.

As The Daily Beast reports, Colbert said as he has so many times before that he disagrees with Trump's ideas: "I may disagree with anything that he's saying and think that his proposals are a little—well, more than a little shocking," before giving him credit for his "appealing populism." "But there is something really hopeful about the fact that, well, 36 percent of the likely voters want him, so the people in the machine don't get to say otherwise. That’s the one saving grace, I think, of his candidacy," he said.

Colbert talked more about that populism by adding that Trump's nailed the "emotional appeal" aspect of running for president—like fear mongering over Muslims, Latinos, and immigrants, which voters seem to respond to, should you have forgotten. "What I do respect is that he knows it is an emotional appeal. And it might be emotional appeals that I can't respect, but he knows that you have to appeal to the voter." That's when Colbert admitted he might have been too quick to have said Trump was never going to win. The Late Show host made it clear that this is only his humble opinion by saying,  "I don't know anything about politics." We just can't find any truthiness in that.
